Tasting

In the cool 2012 vintage our estate vines produced a smaller crop than usual. Helped by the low yields, the cooler conditions encouraged a gradual build-up of flavours in the grapes, enabling us to make a wine that is strikingly aromatic and wondrously savoury. 5% co-fermented Viognier.
13% Alc/Vol

Reviews

Has the best colour of the '12 Clonakilla red wines, hardly a surprise; the bouquet is supremely fragrant, almost flowery/scented,

the palate instantaneously imprinting its total harmony and balance

fruit, oak and tannins are all seamlessly interwoven, the length prodigious. Low yields were the secret. 97 points - Winner of the James Halliday Wine Companion Award for best Shiraz Viognier

James Halliday’s Wine Companion 2014

‘It’s explosively fragrant,

exotically spicy and refreshingly tangy …

superfine, impeccably crafted tannins of immense presence. Cellar for a decade and drink with game. 96 points
